CVIII. BACH, J.S.: Prelude and Fugue in B Minor, BWV 544

CVIII. BACH, J.S. (1685-1750)

Prelude and Fugue in B Minor, BWV 544 (1727-31)
Elske te Lindert, organ
(11:57)

Bach's output for organ is astonishing. It encompasses 16 CDs in my Complete Bach Edition, with many works of this type -- as well as others where he replaced the Prelude with a Toccata.

This Prelude is a complex work with running 32-note scales and difficult pedal work.

Compare Bach's beautiful manuscript with my notation program:

The Fugue is based on a simple subject -- a series of constant eighth-notes meandering around the B Minor scale -- but what Bach does with the material!
