Gabrieli -- who studied with the great de Lassus (see Post XXXI) -- developed this unique acoustical feature as defined by the Venetian Polychoral Style.


This is the cusp of the Rennaisance and the Baroque eras.

Note the V-I cadence in last bar. This is the period when modal music gave way to the diatonic.
