CCXLVII. MOZART, Wolfgang Amadeus (1756-1791)
The nineteen-year-old Mozart wrote this heavyweight piece possibly for the occasion of a graduation ceremony at the University of Salzburg.
He also cleverly constructed the work to be reconstituted as both a symphony and and a violin concerto. The symphony is extracted from movements #1, 5, 6, and 7; and the violin concerto (K. 219) from movements #2, 3, and 4.
