Lyle -- who left us way too soon -- was Pat Metheny's partner, keyboardist, and co-songwriter for over 30 years.
But Mays also wrote a bunch of "classical" music, as well.

This composition moves the material along in mysterious echoing riffs, eerily using the beautiful reverberation the instrument's lower range with occasional two-note V-I licks which constantly transform themselves into something else.
It sounds like an improvisation, which is the highest compliment one can pay to a completely through-composed work of music.
