Cowell was not only a musical pioneer, but a great writer (his text "New Musical Resources" is required reading for anyone interested in this type of music).

John Cage was greatly influenced by Cowell, and went to further prepare the inside of the piano in an even more audacious manner.

Cowell spent four years in St. Quentin because of his sexuality. How times have changed, thank God.
