Mozart left many projects unfinished. He might have interrupted his work on this trio for an opera, or a symphony -- much more important work. His friend, Anton Stadler -- the clarinetist for whom Mozart wrote the magnificent concerto and quintet -- completed the work, presumably after Mozart's death.
