Hans-Christoph Rademann, cond.
(12:14)

Probably this shortest cantata is a surviving fragment of something larger.

1. Recitativo (Basso): Der Friede sei mit dir

May Peace be unto you
Be still, thou troubled spirit
Thy Savior bides with thee
The ancient curse He halts
The Record-Book of faults
Wipes clean and tears to pieces
May Peace be unto you!
The Prince of Darkness there
Who would thy soul be guile ensnare
Thru Jesus Christ the Son
Is vanquished and undone
My Heart, why art so filled with woe?
Since God thru Christ has loved thee so?
'Tis He who speaks to me
May Peace be unto thee

2. Aria/Choral (Basso, Soprano): Welt ade! ich bin dein müde

World, farewell of thee I'm weary
I would forth to Heaven fare
There my soul may rest untroubled
Perfect peace forever there
Here on earth is strife and war
Vanity and sore distress
There in Heaven evermore
Peace, and rest and Blessedness
World, farewell! of thee I'm weary
Zion's Towers beckon me
'Tis there, my God, at peace and tranquil
Ever blessed would I be
Rejoicing, exultant with Thee ever dwelling
Resplendent in glory all glory excelling

3. Recitativo (Basso): Nun Herr, regiere meinen Sinn

Oh Lord, direct and guide Thou me
That I, while here below
Until that day, when at Thy will I forth must go
A Child of Peace may be
From all my afflictions give me peace
Like Simeon in Peace departing
Rejoicing, exultant, with Thee ever dwelling
Resplendent in glory of all glory excelling

4. Choral (Coro): Hier ist das rechte Osterlamm

The Easter-Lamb for us was slain
God's promised boon bestowing
High hung He there upon the Cross
With Love Supernal glowing
His Blood, sprinkled on our door
With Faith, bade Death to pass us o'er
The Slayer can not harm us
Hallelujah!
